According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Easy Home Chef is recalling approximately 2,634 pounds of meat products due to an undeclared allergen.
The affected products were shipped nationwide and contain wheat, which is not declared on the product label. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The following products are included in the recall:
• 1-pound packages of “EASY HOME CHEF BEEF STEW MEAT” with a “best by” date of July 26, 2020.
• 1-pound packages of “EASY HOME CHEF BONELESS BEEF CHUCK ROAST” with a “best by” date of July 26, 2020.
• 1-pound packages of “EASY HOME CHEF BONELESS BEEF SHORT RIBS” with a “best by” date of July 26, 2020.
The recalled products have the establishment number “EST. 34733” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products were sold online through Amazon.com and EasyHomeChef.com.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
